No, you don't. All you have to do is to wait a few minutes for the donator rank to arrive, no matter if you're online or not. If you bought a donator rank but did not receive it, then create a support ticket enclosed with the receipt as proof.

You mean on OPFac servers? No, you can get donator ranks directly without having Champion rank
